Do you ever wonder if you or the people around you are a little bit crazy and are just hiding it well? I learned something the other day that will make you feel that both you and your family/friends are 100%, completely normal...
Dustin and I stopped in the small church right next to Westminster Abbey on our whirlwind London sightseeing extravaganza, and I ended up chatting with one of the volunteers. She told me how much she's enjoying learning the history of the building and then shared the following anecdote. Apparently Sir Walter Raleigh, who is believed to have been the queen's consort and is buried under the alter of the church, was beheaded for treason three years after the death of said queen. (Now here's the loopy part...) His grieving widow was so distraught by the whole affair that she kind of broke and started carrying her husband's HEAD around with her, only allowing it to be buried with her son's body some time later. SO, Sir Walter Raleigh's body is under the alter, his head is out in the yard with his son, and his wife didn't get invited to many social occasions for quite some time after her husband's death. Who knew?
Now THAT'S crazy! Only in England...
